abstract = {Urban regions exhibit a heightened susceptibility to conflict as a result
of escalating population growth, migratory patterns, ethnic frictions, the erosion
of institutional structures, and the deterioration of urban services. This study aims
to contribute lack of conflict studies in urban community setting by exploring and mapping conflict and violence in the urban area. The study was conducted in City
of Makassar as an Indonesian metropolitan city as a case study. The research applies a mixed-method approach, combining surveys and focused group discus-
sions. Community-based urban violence mapping helps to document various
forms of violence, especially in slum areas inhabited by poor and unemployed residents. The study unveils a strong correlation between poverty and conflict. Despite COVID-19, communal conflicts remain unmitigated, highlighting the in- efficacy of government policies and pandemic-related dangers in curbing vio-
lence. The economic downturn and widespread layoffs during the pandemic have intensified conflicts. The study suggests for the establishment of a community-
based conflict monitoring and resolution system, emphasizing community partic- ipation in resolving urban conflicts and promoting resilience. This approach is crucial for building stronger, mo},

abstract = {Pasca konflik antar warga kampung Paropo dengan kampung Rama tahun 2017 silam,
meningkatkan kewaspadaan warga, membatasi jam malam, hingga memperkuat koordinasi antar
aparat pemerintah. Namun mereka merasa bahwa hal itu masih belum cukup. Oleh karenanya,
salah satu yang kemudian dipandang penting untuk dilakukan ialah membekali mereka dengan
kemampuan manajemen konflik sosial antar warga.

abstract = {Social trust is one of fundamental components of social capital. However, trust
is generally seen as one of major social element that is weakening in a post conflict
society. This study focuses on Poso society which experienced violent ethno-religious
conflict which was erupted during Indonesian political transition in 1999. The study
attempts to mapping Poso society’s social trust after almost two decades of Malino peace
agreement in 2001. The study employed mixed method and conducted survey, interview
and focus group discussion to collect data. There were 450 questionnaires were
distributed and 373 respondents or 83 percent were returned. The data was analyzed by
descriptive statistical method with frequency and percentage to analyze trend of
respondents' tendency to their degree of social trust. This research shows quite clearly
that the level of trust of the population towards other parties in areas that have
experienced conflict is quite low. The extent of mistrust on the other side is evident both
to those of their own ethnicity or religion, as well as to those of different ethnicities and
religions. Even so, there was a distribution of respondents who increased their distrust if
the other parties were also different in religion and ethnicity. This shows that postconflict
social recovery efforts that have so far not been fully successful in improving
trust between members of the community.},

It is aimed to map the aspects of radicalism and intolerance; and to assess the degree of radicalism and intolerance in the use of social media by young generation. The current result shows that there is strong correlation between youth attitudes in real and virtual worlds . In general young generation is relatively tolerant towards various social groups in both real life and cyberspace, with an exception to LGBT people. The study also reveals that discrimination against Chinese remain significant though not in majority among young Indonesians.},

abstract = {Indonesia experienced communal ethnoreligious conflicts during the political transition from authoritarian era toward a democratic period in 1999 – 2005. After a decade of violent conflict, the Indonesian government has conducted peacebuilding programs in post-conflict societies in order to redevelop social trust and social solidarity among members of societies that contribute to the peace building process. This study attempts to identify post-conflict societies’ quality of social solidarity based on Fessler’ study. The study was conducted in Poso Regency, which is a post-religious conflict area. The study employs survey method and has interviewed 373 respondents. The data is analyzed by a descriptive statistic. The results show that Poso people have experienced the collapse of social solidarity due to violent religious conflicts. The majority of respondents feel as part of the community and are always open to open relationships with anyone regardless of ethnic or religious background. Poso young people have positive interpersonal relationships although they have experienced violent conflict, indicating that the Poso community has strong social solidarity.},

abstract = {Based on Allianz Wealth Reports 2015, Indonesia is the country with the highest level of
the social gap in Asia. It is predictable that one contributing factor is the gentrification
that recently occurs rapidly in major cities in Indonesia. Besides increasing the level
of economic impact for the local community, some studies have also found that
gentrification effect on psychosocial condition of the society. This paper is a study
of literature that examines the psychosocial effect of gentrification on Indonesian
society. The findings of this study are that gentrification contributes to the emergence
of various psychosocial problems, such as low psychological well-being, the changing
of the pattern and orientation of social relations, the rising of crime rate, as well as a
widening of social gap that can lead to social conflict.},

abstract = {Most studies examine post conflict society based in security and aid management approach for conflict-management. However, some scholars in conflict studies also suggest an institutional design approach to accommodate conflict parties in aftermath regions, which focuses on seeking an appropriate and acceptable “formula” to resolve conflicts. Based on Indonesia’s case, this study proposes a political compromise approach among different parties, at least for core conflict groups, to formulate an institutional framework in ensuring sustainable peace. This study discusses the feasibility of institutional design in order to mitigate dispute escalation in conflict-prone areas in Indonesia through applying theories of centripetalism (Lijphart,1969) and consocialism (Horowitz, 1985). This paper utilizes the analysis tool of Ilievski and Wolff (2011) to analyze the institutional design of conflict resolution},
